How to wipe all data from your MacBook
We recommend that you backup and then delete all your data before we collect your MacBook for repair. This video will show you how to delete all data from your MacBook. Before doing this, make sure you have backed up any data you wish to keep, as this action cannot be undone. Please see our other guide below how to backup your data using Time Machine

Make sure you have backed up any data you wish to keep before proceeding as once the data is wiped it cannot be recovered

The method of how to enter recovery mode depends on the device, for “M1 or above” macbooks go to Step 2, for everything else go to Step 3. If you are unsure, devices made after Nov 2020 are “M1” or above

After Nov 2020 Manufacture
Press and hold the ‘Power’ button, keep it pressed until recovery options appear on the screen

Before Nov 2020 Manufacture
Press the power button, then press and hold ‘Command’ + ‘R’ until a globe appears. After a short period the recovery options will appear

Select “Disk Utility” and click “Continue” to open the disk utility window

Select the drive to be erased, this is normally the main drive, in this instance it is called “Apple SSD” but yours may differ

Select “Erase” to begin wiping the drive

You will then be prompted to name the drive and confirm you wish to erase, it is recommended you keep the settings the same then click “erase”

The drive will now erase, this may take some time depending on the size of the drive

Once complete click “done”

Click the red “x” button in the top left corner to return to the recovery menu and install MacOS. See guides below for instructions on how to do this
